A MIXAMO-RIGGED AND ANIMATED EXPERIMENT
I have always wanted to add character design and animation to my bag of tricks but the process of weighting the character has been a struggle. So i decided to give Mixamo.com a shot and have my character auto-rigged and weighted.
----
PROCESS
The character is based on a low poly base mesh that I heavily modified in Cinema 4D. I generated a Hi res version that was uploaded to Mixamo.com for rigging and animation. The character's textures were created in After Effects.
The environment I modelled in Cinema 4D is rather simple and in order to have a lot of details without additional geometry, displacement maps were generated with JSplacement( that I just can't praise enough! ) and further refined in Photoshop.
The animation was rendered in Octane at a resolution of 2520x1080, which took my GTX 1080 between 3 and 15 minutes per frame depending on scenes.
